Trailer Connector for 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 With Existing Gooseneck/5th Wheel Wiring

Question:

I have a 2004 Chevy 2500 and in the bed is a 6 pin recipicle for what I think is a camper. There is one center pin and 5 pins surrounding it. The surrounding pics are only on the top, right and bottom side. The left side has no pins. Im trying to plug a camper in it to run the running lights , brake and turn lights of the camper. I either need the lead that plugs into this to runs lights or replace it with something that I can get both sides one to attach to truck and one to wire to truck camper to poser the lights. i also have pics of the recepitcle in the bed of the truck. Thanks

Thanks for the photo of your trailer connector. I recommend replacing the connector in your vehicle. Since you already have the wires at the bed of your truck, you can use a 7-way blade-style connector, like the Pollak # PK12707, to provide a new connector. To mate with this connector, you will want a 7-way blade-style connector, like the Pollak # PK12706, on your camper.

You will want to wire these connectors by function. There are a few different ways a 7-way can be wired. I have attached a help article, as well as a diagram, on wiring 7-way trailer connectors. I have also attached an installation video of this connector on a 2014 GMC Sierra 2500 for you to have an idea of how the connector will install. I recommend testing the wires with a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to be sure of their functions before making connections to the trailer connector.
