What is the Best Grease for Trailer Bearings
Question:
We recently bought a new trailer and I re-greased the bearings with GC-LB grease a few months after purchase. Before I re-greased the bearings, they were stone cold after driving about three miles at speeds no greater than 50 mph. Now that I re-greased them, they are slightly warm after the same trip. Is this normal? Thanks

Even though I cannot comment specifically on the grease you used because I am not familiar with it, I can tell you the best grease for trailer bearings is a a grease with a rating of GC-LB, which just means it is made to withstand very high temperatures (like what occur on a trailer hub that has massive RPMs when travelling, even at slower speeds) so it will continue to lubricate instead of quickly dissipating like you see with lower rated greases.
The best grease for trailer bearings is the LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease # L11390 and LubriMatic Wheel Bearing Grease # L11465 which have the highest rating of of GC-LB to give your bearings the protection they need. These cartridges will fit Grease Gun # L30200 or # L30480 and I strongly recommend using Bearing Packer # L70025 or # ALL647646 to make the job much easier.
You also want to be sure when you do re-grease your bearings to get rid of all of the grease that had been on the bearings because not all types of grease are compatible.
I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well as a link to an FAQ on bearing grease I recommend taking a look at.
